TOTAL CONTROL PLUS™

     Independent veterinarians, blacksmiths and other specialists in the field have tested Total Control™ Plus. Results show horses with joint problems documented by radiographic analysis have been shown to stop degradation of the joint capsule once placed on the product. In addition to radiographs, observation by veterinarians and trainers confirm a return to soundness and improved mobility.

     Horses with bad feet and normal feet that were put on Total Control™ Plus showed increased hoof growth and strength. Two veterinarians and almost a dozen farriers were involved in the development and testing of this phase of the product. All reported animals with measurable improvement in their hooves. While not all horses respond in identical fashion, all farriers reported the majority of their test subjects showing substantial improvement. Many reported improvement in quarter cracks, less splitting and chipping of the hoof and the ability to hold nails better. Horses with early to mid stage laminitis often showed improvement.

     Coat appearance is a subjective analysis and is not considered a major condition here, but most specimens on Total Control™ Plus are reported to have better looking coats: a healthy shine, dapples and “looks good on the outside, must be doing good on the inside” are common comments.

     Horses with gastric issues show improvement. Many horses were found to be able to maintain healthy gastric systems with substantial reductions in omeprazole and other drug therapies. Undigested grain in the manure disappeared and some horses experience needed weight gain.

     Blood count analysis has shown Total Control™ Plus to be effective at improving and maintaining RBC count, hemoglobin levels and total hematocrit in racehorses. Horses with inferior blood count levels have been shown to improve and even specimens with acceptable levels show improvement and maintenance at high levels. In clinical trials done on Total Control™ Plus, over 90% of horses tested showed improvement. The average improvement, including all horses in the study, was a 7% increase in RBC’s and a 14% increase in hemoglobin levels, over 60 days.

     Rehydration is an important part of the equine athlete’s program and Total Control™ Plus has demonstrated through veterinarian testing to be effective in rehydration of racehorses and show horses and to restore the proper electrolyte balance necessary for proper nerve and muscle function. This product is formulated to replace electrolytes in the horse in the same proportion as the horse loses through daily activity. Total Control™ Plus contains all major electrolytes, minor electrolytes and trace minerals in a proper balance. Horses in heavy training in hot, humid weather and horses coming back from a race or other strenuous event should be given additional electrolyte supplementation to assure adequate replenishment.      Total Control™ Plus also has ingredients to stop or greatly reduce exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage. If you are bleeding internally you will not be able to perform up to your potential and neither can your horse. Horses on furosemide can’t do their best if they are bleeding while training and even if they are treated prior to each workout the dehydration resulting from this treatment is not good for the horse. In any event, furosemide doesn’t help the root cause of the problem; it only temporarily treats the symptoms. Total Control™ Plus addresses the issue by strengthening the capillaries so the horse doesn’t bleed in the first place. The difference is critical. Recent clinical tests showed 16 horses running on 10 cc’s of furosemide and suffering from EIPH that were put on Total Control™ Plus had the following results: 9 of the horses were able to reduce furosemide by one-half and did not bleed; 3 of the horses were taken off furosemide completely and did not bleed; 4 of the horses stopped bleeding but the furosemide dosage was not changed due to trainer choice—they were just not ready to discontinue the drug.
